FABRIC: Pink and White duchess satin. The white duchess satin has an overlay of pale pink organza with a pink glitter print. DRESS PATTERNS USED: Simplicity 2563 was used for the bodice. I added steel boning to the center front of the bodice to keep the point from flipping upward, and the front very smooth. The satin was flat lined with cotton and the inside of the bodice fully lined with polyester lining fabric, so she does not feel uncomfortable wearing a bodice with a piece of steel boning. I also added piping to the edges of the bodice. I drafted my own skirt pattern. I used Simplicity 2569 for the base of the sleeve structure, but I recall expanding the puff to make it larger. I also inserted diamond cut outs into the puff sleeves. UNDERGARMENTS: I created a layered tiered petticoat out of bridal crinoline and tulle. The bottom channel at the hem of the inner portion of the petticoat has flexible plastic boning of some sort inserted to keep the skirt kicked out and away from her feet. The petticoat is whip stitched into the waist of the bodice to keep it in place. |
