Disneyland Anaheim, CA
It is interesting to see the subtle changes in the animatronic's clothing and styling each time they refurbish her. The patterning of the hat and dress seem to have remained fairly consistent (2006 hat may be wider). There are subtle changes in the way the lace is attached to the skirt, hat felt color, size and placement of velvet roses, jewelry, etc. Even the number of times the rope circles her waist varies.
Costume Display - Disneyland Anaheim, CA
Most of the photos below are from the Alice Davis Window dedication ceremony at Disneyland on May 10th, 2012. The costume was also on display a few months prior to the ceremony in Club 33 for the 45th Anniversary of Pirates. It is very clear from these photos taken in natural light that the dress satin is pink (not red). This is the version of the dress currently used on the ride in Disneyland. I'm sure they have several, since the costumes become worn out and stained by the animatronic and need replacing or cleaning. (It looks like they even have bolts of the fabric on hand for many costumes so they can continually replace them.)
Magic Kingdom - Walt Disney World, FL
There are some differences in patterning, fabrics, trims and accessories used on the Disney World Redhead as well as the Redhead in Tokyo and Paris. The hat embellishment and placement on the head is different than Disneyland's, and the number of eyelets on the vest are far fewer. The Disney World dress has something closer to a true separate white petticoat rather than the attached lace hem facing we see currently at Disneyland.
Note there are differences in the Magic Kingdom Redhead prior to 2006 and after 2006.
- Color: The satin used prior to the 2006 ride refurbishment at the Magic Kingdom at one time was much more of a pale red or salmon color. The updated costume is pink.
- Hat: It changes in shape and size, as well as size and placement of the velvet roses.
- Necklace: Prior to 2006 she wears a thin velvet choker. Post 2006 it is a wide black choker with a brooch attached.
- Shoes: Her shoes were plain reddish pink pumps before 2006. Post 2006 refurbishment there is a tab extension and buckle on her shoe.
On a side note, prior to the 2006 refurbishment it seems that the auction banner was not on display (possibly a result of Disney's politically correct modifications in the 1990s). It was returned after the 2006 renovation.
Disneyland Paris and Tokyo
Photos of this redhead are harder to come by (especially Tokyo). The Paris Redhead seems to have a much more modest cut to the neckline of her pink bodice. In fact, it may be more of a blouse or shirt with a scoop neckline and not a structured bodice. You can see each time they dress her that there is no consistency with how far blouse is pulled down. Another notable difference is in the ruffles of her petticoat, the lace seems to have some sort of sequin-like embellishment.
This is a fun video showing a glimpse of the ride in the different theme parks around the world:
