Captain America - The First Avenger: Dancing Girls
Several variations of this costume are worn by the dancers and singers during Captain America's USO tour. This is the variation the dancers wore in the New York City segment of the movie. It was also worn in promotional appearances for the movie. (Disclaimer: This costume is in no way representative of the United States "USO." This dancer is a fictional character.)
Upon seeing some of the sneak peek photos from the movie, several costumers expressed interest in making this dress to wear at comic & pop-culture conventions. Scruffy Rebel (Victoria) and I then started a no profit volunteer group facebook project in order to coordinate our effort and create matching costumes strictly for personal use and artistic expression. All of the patterns were drafted or modified by me, with some assistance from our two original USO girls Jessica and Lindsay. We made our small debut at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2011. This was followed by a much larger gathering at the Dragon*Con 2011 parade and photo shoot with a total of 30 girls from our group participating! We had an even larger group of girls in the 2012 Dragon Con Parade, followed by a performance by a select group of girls in the Dragon Con Masquerade where we won an award for "Best Patriotic" skit.
